Analyze This
Saturday morning, at sometime after 6 AM, I had the following dream:
It starts out with me with me and my Ankeny girls [12 girls I knew from chuch camp during high school] and we are headed to a baby shower for Sophia [a woman I know from connick.com, who is actually pregnant]. But we’re in the desert, walking a long distance and then we get to a cliff and we have to kind of jump [this comes from a scene in 'A Bug's Life' that I watched the night before, I'm sure]. Somehow we get down and we’re still in the desert, but now we are at Sophia’s baby shower. We’re sitting on couches outside with the requisite cow skulls and cacti surrounding us, all drinking margaritas. [I dont' know if Sophia was drinking them or not, but its a dream, it so doesn't matter.] I look around and realize that Tori Amos is there [and why she's there, I have no idea, since I'm not a fan or anything] and she’s got really long wavy red hair, its really fabulous. She’s getting really loaded.
At this point, I go through a door to a room next to us [I know outside and there is a room... go with me] and I see my friend Adam Dickenson [who knew from church camp and went to college with and who lives in San Diego] so I somehow now decide I must be in San Diego. We are in a room that is dimly lit, kind of smoky bar atmosphere, little tables with lights, etc. Adam and I are discussing about when we can get to the movies together that weekend [because we are film junkies and anytime we see each other, a trip to the movies must be involved] and I’m explaining to him that I’m really kind of busy because I’m supposed to go to dinner at some point with Gil Grissom [the main character on CSI]?! Adam tells me to blow him off but then Warrick Brown [another CSI guy] appears and tells me how I have to go to dinner with Grissom because he always takes guests to this really fabulous restaurant and I’d be stupid to not go. Then I go sit down at another table with Grissom and get dinner plans settled.
After that, I go back into the room with Sophia’s baby shower and the whole group is watching football on tv. The tv camera pans through the crowd and stops on Tori. The booth announcer is all “and I see singer Tori Amos is enjoying the game today.” Tori is completely trashed and she’s all screaming at the camera with “Woo!! Sophia rocks!! Wooo!” It is at this point that I notice that she’s wearing a tank top and she’s been totally written on with markers by everyone at the baby shower! [I actually did this to someone on a band trip in college - a bunch of us did, with permanent marker. hee.] And then, some guy comes up behind her and pulls off her hair! She was wearing a wig!! Insane.
Then Adam comes into the party, all the girls say “hi” [they went to the same high school in real life], and he tells me its time to go register for classes?! So the two of us leave and we are suddenly back in the registar’s building at the University of Iowa. So we are at tables registering for classes and there is this group of sorority-looking girls at the other end of the table and they keep whispering to themselves and looking at me. One of them finally says “you were so fun last night, are you going out again tonight?” I just stare at them, turn to Adam and say “they must think I’m a sophomore or something.” Then I realize I have to go get something else to register and it is downstairs. So I start down the stairs [this building has 3 floors and a basement with a big staircase down the middle of the building] and as I’m decending the stairs, on each flight I keep running into people I knew in marching band in college that I never really liked and they all want to talk to me. Finally I get to whatever level I need to get to and I need to get money from an ATM. Convienently, this level of the registar building has a bar, like you do. And there is an ATM on the bar and people getting money. But first you have to fill out this little slip of paper and have it put in the machine like a lottery ticket entry so you won’t get charged ATM fees [this must be commentary on how I hate the new ATM fees in Iowa]. I submit my slip, get my cash, and then suddenly, I’m standing on a highway near an overpass in Iowa City with Steve Suter [one of the trombone players from Bonerama, but not one of the band members that I really know] and we are trying to hitch a ride. And then I woke up.

Smoke. Less. Crack.
I love dreams like that. When I wake up I usually try to fall back asleep just to see what happens next, but then it’s a really twisted version of the original and usually isn’t very good anyway. But my dreams never involve camera pans.
But seriously, less crack.
