Friday Five

How are you planning to spend the summer?
I’ve got a couple of bridal showers and a wedding. I hope to get to Chicago for a weekend to see the Leroy Jones Quintet and visit a friend from high school. I should probably email him to tell him I’m planning on dropping in… Anyway, other than that. Nothing really big planned. Read, watch movies, do some web stuff, and work on my Mary Kay business so I can make some money to spend friviously this fall. I’m also working on plans for the 30th Anniversary Alumni Band Banquet to be held Homecoming weekend in October. I’m a co-chair for this event with Doogie. So if you are an HMB alumni, mark your calendar for October 4th!

What was your first summer job?
Camp counselor at Summer Games, a Christian sports camp. [Note to self: volunteer to redesign that website. yikes.]

If you could go anywhere this summer, where would you go?
New Orleans for Satchmo Summerfest for good music, good food, and good freaks.

What was your worst vacation ever?
Honestly, I can’t think of a vacation that really leaps out as being horrible. Maybe I’m repressing, but, nope. Can’t think of one. Well, there was that one time in Nice and the train station and the dogs and the scary scary man in the green sweatsuit… Excuse me while I go rock quietly in the corner now.

What was your best vacation ever?
There needs to be some clarification of what I consider a “vacation.” I take lots of trips: to concerts, to museums, to sightsee, to visit friends. But I don’t consider those vacations. A vacation is meant for relaxation. I don’t take vacations very often. Which probably makes the few I have been on all the more memorable. And the best of the best would have been Jerry and Sara’s wedding in Jamaica last fall.

Best. Vacation. Ever.
