You’ve been at the last few quartet shows, right?

While a picture is worth at least a thousand words, I’d need about 14 pictures to really say everything about my four day trip around the midwest to see and hear six sets with Harry and his quartet. At the suggestion of Jerry, I’m going to copy and post the loooooonnnnnggggg reviews that I wrote for each show of my trip that were originally over on the boards at connick.com. This way, I’ll always have them here and those of you who don’t troll over to my discussion board can read them if you are interested and have some time to kill.
I’m going to fool with the posting times so that these show up in order from top to bottom on this day’s entries. So start at the top!
Note: the entries were originally written for an audience who obviously knows what I’m talking about, so it might be a little referential and a bit inside, but hopefully, they are still readable to the outside observer of my inner madness.
Knowing these things may help:
Harry = Harry Connick, Jr
Neal = Neal Caine, bass player
BamBam = Arthur Latin, drummer
Ned = Ned Goold, tenor sax
TSN = ‘Thou Shalt Not,’ the broadway musical that Harry wrote the music and lyrics for that had a limited run on broadway but got him a Tony nomination. The songs that the quartet play are from this show, reimagined for quartet, obviously.
Tracy = Tracy Abrams, my friend from central New York state who flew into join me on this trip. She’s one of those lucky teacher types with lots of summer vaction.
There are more pictures in the extended entries.
That’s all I can think of for now, leave me a comment if there is something that you don’t get and you are real curious about.
Oh, and if you read or even just skim these entries, you’ll see where I spend all my time writing and why I’ve been ignoring my blog.
You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.
