Muted Tones

Today feels a little strange. No one is really online. Jeff went to the US Open this morning. I’m actually being productive at work while reading some TWoP recaps between odds and ends. The weather is overcast and its supposed to be another sweltering August day in Iowa, yet its absolutely freezing in my cube even though I’m wearing long sleeves and shoes with socks.

I haven’t worn long sleeves in months, let alone shoes other than my fabulous black patent leather Birkenstocks. My feet are rebelling a bit at the moment. The reason for this is because I am participating in a company photo shoot today and I’m supposed to look like an “urban professional,” whatever that means. Yeah, we’re really “urban” here at ACT. Word. Regardless, I was told not to wear a shirt that was black, white, or red. Which is pretty much my entire wardrobe of work-appropriate clothing. So I went to the mall, looking for something “bright and vibrant.” I wanted a bright blue shirt because I don’t have a bright blue shirt and I thought I could stand to add one to my fashion repertoire.

Unfortunately the fall fashion lines are not bright and vibrant. They are all muted tones. I’m so not a fan of muted tones. After searching pretty all of Coralridge and suffering through the horrors of trying on clothes, I managed to find the one bright blue shirt in the whole mall and it actually didn’t suck, so I bought it. Our department secretary really liked it. What more can I ask?
