12 awards still to give…
Oprah. Damn. That’s a huge bow on her butt!
She introduces Mystic River for Best Picture. I haven’t seen this movie. It sounds like such a downer. I’m just not a huge fan of realistic and sad dramas.
Diane Lane, wow shiny! and John Cusack, always like him. They get to do Documentary, Short Subject, again, I know nothing about these. And I think the Academy requires that you have seen them all to vote. Chernobyl Heart wins. The filmmaker needs to start talking faster or she’s going to get the music really soon. Now Naomi Watts and Alec “Canteen Boy” Baldwin give us the Documentary Feature nominees. I’ve at least heard of half of these, but I still haven’t seen any of them. The Fog of War wins. This guy is wearing sneakers with his tux and he’s talking A BIT TOO LOUD. Nothing like a good nearly crazy documentary filmmaker. And like a good documentary filmmaker, he gets political comparing our current situation to Vietnam. People clap, but a lot of the crowd looks nervous.
“A weapon of Mass Sleep Induction,” Frank Piersol, Academy President. Who just completely screws up reading the teleprompter. *chorlte* Now we have the Gregory Peck tribute, which actually leads into the regular “In Memoriam” tribute. I need to see To Kill a Mockingbird again. I want my funeral to just be an Oscar-style tribute film.
mmmm, mini-eggs…
Ah the Caddyshack/Tiger Woods commercial. *laughs* Bonus points for “The 1812 Overture.”

“Will you rub some of this bug repellent on my chest, Canteen Boy?”
