My Movie Drops…
Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller come to pimp for their new movie, Starskey and Hutch and present for Live Action Short film. Ah the category that no one ever sees. Sometimes the Bijou will get them all and show them together later in the spring. Two Soldiers wins. How nice for these people. Great speech, the guy keeps thanking the symphony director for not coming in and cutting him off in the middle of his very fast list of thanks. Subtle and HA! Next up: Animated Short Film. Boundin’ by Pixar is nominated. However, Harvie Krumpet wins.
Liv Tyler appears and puts on her fun 50’s glasses to read the prompter, she introduces the first of the nominated Original Songs, “You Will Be My Ain True Love” by Sting. Its being perfomed by Sting and Allison Krauss. Sting is playing some very interesting folk intrument that has a hand-crank. The song is from Cold Mountain. There are two songs from that movie nominated tonight, I’ll be surprised if one of them wins since a lot of times having two nominations in the same category causes them to be cancel each other out. And moving right along to the second song from Cold Mountain, “Scarlet Tide”, this time with less Sting and more Elvis Costello with bonus sacred harp singers (I think that’s what Liv said anyway.) These songs are very pretty but a bit sad, I guess I need to see the movie to see how they fit in to the picture. Why are all the members of the choir holding big red books? Did they not know the words?
More Liv, I guess we are doing all the songs at once this year. Now we have Annie Lenox singing “Into the West” from LOTR:ROTK. I wonder what Annie Lenox would look like with long hair. She’s wearing a beautiful blue gown, its slightly odd to see her dressed so femininely. And there is that amazing voice that just gives a person chills. Her tone is just so unique. I’ve got to get that soundtrack. Or at least that song, I know the Apple Music Store has it.
