The Weekend that Was

You’re looking at how I spent most of my Saturday, changing my blog template. I did enjoy sleeping in until 10:30am, something I haven’t done in a long time, it was nice. Highly recommended. Caught a bit of the first round of the NFL draft. Great to see Robert Gallery be drafted #2 overall and for Nate Kaeding be the first kicker taken. In the early afternoon, I dropped by the Roethler household and did a little friendly web consulting for D. Welcome her to the world of blogs and online photo albums.

Sunday was a day filled with family and food. Got up early and drove home to my mom’s house to have breakfast with her, my cousin Jeanie and her boyfriend, who’s name completely escapes me at the moment. So by 9:45am, I was eating eggs, bacon, biscuits and a delightful puff pastry from Jaarsma’s Bakery. We then went to Albia and met up with more family members and had the Sunday buffet at the White Buffalo restaurant. Around 1pm I ate a whole bunch of fresh sliced turkey, stuffing, and this tasty chocolate mousse whip dessert. Family stories were shared, photos were taken [which I would post if I could find my flash card reader], children ran amuck. I got back to my apartment around 5pm and then went into flurry cleaning mode because my cousins Tina and Corey were dropping by later. We went out to dinner with Corey’s brother, Tim. Mexican. I had a shrimp quesadilla that had about two dozen shrimp in it. I ended up just eating the shrimp with some sour cream because the quesadilla was so huge I couldn’t figure out how to eat it without the whole production becoming a mess. Very tasty. And even though I so didn’t need it, I had sopapillas for dessert. After dinner, we went and saw 13 Going on 30. More about that in a bit.
