Book 8 : Cat’s Eyewitness
The next Mrs. Murphy Mystery, Cat’s Eyewitness by Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie Brown, is a delight. The continuing adventures of now-ex-postmistress Harry and her cats and dogs in Crozet, Virginia never fail to entertain. This time around Harry and her curiosity get her mixed up in the murder of a monk and a statue of the Virgin Mary that is weeping blood. I rarely ever figure out a mystery, be it in book or tv/movie form, so I don’t try, I just go along for the ride with the characters. And that’s what I love so much about this mystery series: the characters. They are so well-fleshed out at this point, and yet the author always manages to show us another layer and something we didn’t yet know about Fair, BoomBoom, Susan, Miranda, or any of the other numerous residents of Crozet (at least the ones who have managed to not be killed off.)
As you’ve probably determined after my first 8 book “reviews,” I’m not the best at writing up anything really deep about the books I read. I’m working on it.
