Change Wind Direction + Stop the Snowfall

Today was the day I’ve been dreading since turning on the tv the morning of September 11th to watch the ‘Today Show’ like I do every morning. Ever since I sat on my coffee table and watched the second plane hit the towers, I’ve been waiting to turn on my tv and see Katie or Matt telling me there has been another attack somewhere.

    Today it happened.

Today it was London. In the Underground.

Early reports are of very few fatalities, but even one senseless death of one innocent person at the hands of these terrorist groups only strengthens my belief that we have to root these people out wherever they are.

Though it is selfish to say, today hit closer to home for me than the early moments of 9/11. In 2001, I had not yet been to NYC, so even thought it was the US, it remained this far away place I’ve only seen on TV and in the movies, very surreal. I have been to London, at least half a dozen times, if not more. I’ve ridden the Tube with delight, through the beautiful restored old stops and the graffiti covered older ones, all over the city. I’ve been in or through one or more of the stations and lines attacked today.

My prayers go out to the people who were victims of this ridiculous act of violence.

My hope is that I do not have to dread turning on ‘Today’ for many more tomorrows.
