Change Wind Direction + Stop the Snowfall

Unfortunately, I am not enjoying the good weather that Lisa is today. Instead I’m experiencing real Iowa summer heat. The heat index is near 115 today. After staying up past midnight finishing reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, I woke up not too late and headed out to run errands before it got really unbearable out. The main goal of the running around was to get a new lamp for my bedroom that goes by my bed. My old one had been acting odd for the last week or so and last night it finally just died. What I really wanted was a lamp that had a clear base that you could fill with your own bits. I was thinking Mardi Gras beads. Of course, since I had a specific idea of what I wanted in my head, that meant I couldn’t find it. I checked every local craft store and as many variations on google as I could to no avail. Well, I did find one lamp that was sold to put your seashell collection in, but it was something like $50 and that’s too much for a bedroom lamp.

Who knew it was so hard to find a lamp? I looked at Pier One, Wal-Mart, Loews, Sears, JcPenney, some other store in the mall, and then Target. There are a lot of tacky lamps out there. After nearly two hours, I finally settled on a semi-simple one from Target. A clear plastic base that I can’t describe or find on the Target website right now.

I’m also working on Wil’s computer this weekend. His iMac hadn’t been upgraded since 10.2.3 *gasp* and I volunteered to bring him up to Tiger speed this weekend. Thinking, of course, that I’d just plug it in and click some buttons every now and again over the course of the weekend. No real work involved. But nothing is ever that simple. His hard drive has some serious errors and I think I’m going to have to do a low-level format. Joy. Of course, I apparently don’t have Wil’s current phone number so I can’t call to discuss this with him. *sigh*

Did I mention its hot out?

And I have a headache and I really haven’t had one for several months.
    Irritating.

I’m supposed to be going to the drive in with Christopher tonight, but I haven’t completely committed to that since I still have a headache and now have a broken computer to deal with on top of it. Le sigh.

I hope, dear readers, that your weekend is going better than mine.

Sorry to pry; I had to check how badly you badmouthed my computer. Thanks for taking it easy on us. I’ll buy you a lamp.

Stacey says he and Sarah have OS X.0 (gasp), so I’m not too old a fogey. Man, you are an elitist! (JUST KIDDING!!!)
