Weekend roundup and a word of caution

This past weekend was an enjoyable time. The Samuel side of my family held their annual reunion. Four generations were represented in the fifty some odd people who were there. As per usual, I took photos, which I will be making into a book for my Aunt Beth, who is the last member of her generation (she is my grandmother’s youngest sibling) and since she lives in California, was unable to attend.

Family gatherings always inspire me to want to get started again on our geneology projects. I’m looking at GEDitCOM software for the Mac. At least I collected a lot of birthdates and updated addresses on Saturday.

On Sunday, I met up with Adam and we caught up over lunch. Great to see him. His parents are selling their house and there was an open house from 1-4pm, so he wasn’t supposed to be home before 4pm. But we got back to Ankeny around 3:45pm. Instead of driving around the block, we went in and posed as people looking at the house. Which was amusing. I only wish I’d been thinking fast enough to have said my last name was Bonaduci.

And now to the word of caution. Yesterday I started the South Beach Diet on the prompting of Adrienne. Basically no carbs that I like and no sugar for the next two weeks. I’m trying to give this the old college try because none of my pants fit and something must be done. And I realize that I’ve got times to meet with people and have meals out or in a group for the next few months on end, so no time like the present.

Giving up my bowl of Cheerios for breakfast is the hardest. That’s my comfort food that I’ve eaten everyday forever. And according to the book (which I bought over a year ago, read, and decided I couldn’t do that), even on phases 2 and 3 I’m only supposed to eat them once a week, if that. So we’ll see how long this lasts after the first phase. I know I should be positive but after trying to eat carrots for lunch and almost gagging after the sixth little stick, it feels like a loooooooong two weeks ahead.

The word of caution is that I’m eating carrots and stuff I don’t like and my lack of daily chocolate chip cookie is making me more crabby than usual. grrrrrrr.

You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.
