The title of today’s post comes from the opening lines of Harry’s new song, All These People, which speaks to the horrible conditions at the Convention Center that Harry witnessed first-hand and that the rest of us saw through the lens of the news cameras. It is availalble on from the iTunes Music Store and all the proceeds from the sale of the single will go to the New Orleans Habitat Musicians’ Village. Won’t you give it a listen?
I’ve been staring at the big box of my blog post for half an hour trying to figure out what to say. Last night I wrote some of the post that is on the connick.com homepage for today. For as few words as I actually put in there, it felt like days of thinking.
Beyond my own personal crap that I’ve been dealing with lately, the continued state of things in New Orleans has been weighing heavy on my mind. I’m frustrated feeling that most people have moved on in their lives and news cycles. Friends and family have new kids or new marriages or are busy starting new jobs or new programs in school and they appear (I only say appear because I really don’t know) to not be giving a second thought to the on-going fight to save New Orleans and the culture that is so unique and important to our country.
Won’t you take a few moments out of your life today, tomorrow, and into the future to do something to help? Say a prayer, donate a few bucks, plan a trip, write your legislators, or just keep yourself informed?
I’ll now direct you over to Lisa’s post for today because she says everything else I wanted to say and her blog is a great example of someone who cares deeply for NOLA and keeps herself informed of the situation.
