My 30th birthday is two weeks from today.

I know, I know, you’re all just scrambling now. The questions are flying fast and furious:
“What will I buy her? Will she love it? Doesn’t she already own everything?”

Despite my acquisition of both TiVo and a new iPod in the last few months, amazingly I do still have a few items/services I’d still gladly take in celebration of me! I’ve been jotting down things I’d like for the last few months because when my birthday and Christmas roll around I’m usually drawing blanks beyond dvd’s and books.

For those traditionalists, the Amazon Wishlist is updated. Highlights include: my attempt to not actually pay for another version of the Star Wars dvds and my desire to complete my X-Files collection. I’ve already shelled out for seasons 1-6 myself.

This is a good time to note that I am not above receiving used items. I know the X-Files is expensive, but if you can find a used set that is still in really good condition, I’d gladly take it. But please, no damaged corners on the set boxes, a girl has standards!

There is one item on my wishlist that needs something to go with it: the PS2 version of “Tomb Raider Legend.” I don’t have a PS2, but I’ve always wanted one. I’d gladly take a used one that is in good working condition with a controller and a memory card. Ebay is your friend, or maybe you’re just tired of yours and its collecting dust. Don’t tell me, just put it in a box and wrap it up.

Maybe wrapping is too much work for you. Maybe you’re more of an online gift certificates kind of person. Do I have some ideas for you!

    • Netflix : As much as I love it, I’d love to not pay for it every month.
    • Zappos.com : The online shoe-shopping paradise. I really really want a pair of knee-high black boots, but I have to contend with my MBC’s (marching band calves) and I can’t ever find any in the store that fit. This store carries boots for the larger-calved woman.
    • Teddy Bear Hospital : Yes, really. There’s a woman who does stuffed animal restoration. Yes, I know its kind of expensive, but my poor bear Charmin could really use some love. I’ve had him forever. I think he’s actually older than MacGyver, so he’s probably about twenty years old.
    • Ann Taylor Loft : Its my favorite clothing store. You can get cards in-store too if you live close to one.

Nothing appealing yet? Still looking for more ideas? Here are some more:

    • Movie theater gift certificates. We have CEC Theatres in town and they don’t sell gift certificates online, but you can get them at any CEC Theatre near you.
    • A record player with a pre-amp. I have a lot of old LP’s I’d like to digitize, but I don’t have the record player to play them on. I’d also need one that has the pre-amp built-in because I don’t have a big stereo system to run it through. (Or if someone who’s reading this even has one I can just borrow for a few months, that’d be great…)
    • Bundt pans by NordicWare : I love these crazy cake pans. You can order them online or find them at different places like Sears and Target and I think amazon.com carries them too. My favorite ones are the fleur de lis pan, the cathedral pan, the violets pan, the castle pan, and the new stadium pan. Upon further review I see that amazon.com carries a holiday tree design which I have added to my wishlist.

I guess that’s all I can think of. *laughs* Thanks for indulging my fantasies.

I’m still figuring out what social activities will be going on for my actual day. I’ll let you know…

Forget PS2. I’d hold out for a Nintendo Wii with the crazy nunchuck controller.

MBCs!! haha. I feel your pain! I have a set of Marching Band Calfs myself and boot shopping is most frustrating.

Try Target for knee high boots. I can never find boots either, but I’ve found two pairs of nice stretchy knee high boots at Target recently!
