365 photo challenge
I tried this once back in October, but my photos were so unorganized and I was so far behind on captioning things that I just never followed through. I’m working on several projects for myself this year and I’ve managed to get all my photo management bits in line so I can pursue this. The version of the challenge that I’m subscribing to is to take one photo everyday, no particular subject matter. I’ve already missed a couple of days, but I’m continuing to make the effort regardless. The photos will be posted on flickr and the latest posted one will be displayed in the right side of my blog.
This picture is from yesterday. My co-workers and I went out to lunch at Midtown Family Restaurant as one of my co-workers thought they had great onion rings. I’m working hard on my weight loss (another project for another post) but I just had to see how their tenderloin stacked up. I think everyone at the table gasped when the waitress sat this down in front of me. The bun wasn’t actually on top, it was underneath so it looked even more imposing, but I added the bun for scale. It was really good. Obviously I didn’t eat it all. I barely ate half. But then I was good and only ate half the fries (which were also great, I love crinkle cut fries) and skipped dessert. Needless to say it filled me up for the rest of the day.
I have fond memories of getting tenderloins from this tiny restaurant that was behind my uncle’s furniture store in Albia. They were the classic “big as a plate with a comically small bun” by which I judge all Iowa tenderloins. Its definitely one food that I never order when I’m out of state, it just wouldn’t be right.
Considering that I really don’t eat much on a daily basis and can just eat the same thing over and over and not much care, I wonder why I have a lot of strong memories of food? I actually wrote a creative writing description of an Arby’s roast beef once in high school.

Good grief…that is some sandwich! LOL!
You can’t beat an Iowa tenderloin! I also have the same rule of thumb - if the bun fits, send it back because it can’t be very good.
Those french fries look *really* good…. I am very jealous!
