Her psychic powers are intact
I got home from work in a panic ready to force feed my cat so she wouldn’t die and found her still on her bed in the office. But then she got up all on her own, walked to the kitchen, ate a bit, then went to her water bowl and drank for five minutes. Just like she knew what I was going to do if she didn’t eat and drink on her own. This obviously made me feel better. She seems a bit more lively (not that she’s ever very lively) tonight. Though later she did then go sit by her food dish and not eat, so I gave in and got 5cc’s of food/water puree down her throat with the syringe. I now have another hole in my finger from that battle. She took most of her meds without problems and drank some more water, though still not very much. Now she is napping on her heating pad. I’ll probably try to feed her one more time tonight before bed, but she’s hanging in there.
Thanks again for all the encouragement and concern!
All the worry is starting to affect the rest of my life though. I was making a yellow pound bundt cake tonight and I nearly burned it badly. Silly uneven oven temperatures. Though I suspect my co-workers will still manage to eat the whole thing tomorrow.

Sorry, but I can’t help with the kitty issues.
What I do know is the uneven oven temperatures. In our house we took a cue from Alton Brown. Get a large, heavy baking stone –the heavier the better. In fact, AB recommends going so far as to get unglazed quarry tiles or even pottery kiln shelves. Then, put said stone in the middle of your oven. When you’re pre-heating, wait 15-20 minutes after the oven says that it’s at temperature.
The stone isn’t there for cooking on in this case, it’s just there to get hot during the preheat and then evenly distribute the heat throughout your oven during the cooking process. We had some issues of this sort in our house and found that even a simple Pampered Chef half-sheet stone worked wonders with our cookies, bread, cakes, even home made pizza doughs.
I feel that I should put in a shameless product plug here, but I’ll refrain.
I feel your pain with the pet thing, however. We are going through something similar with Domino. Let us know if/how we can help!
I think the vet should have told you about the syringe feeding before you took her home. But, I’m glad to hear that she seems to have perked up a bit. Hopefully, she was just worn out. Praying that she will continue to improve!
…as for the product plug, I’ll make it. One stone isn’t enough. We actually use two — one to keep the oven temperature a little more even and the other to actually cook on.
In that case, all PChef stones are 20% off in January should someone need one :)
