Broadway, baby!!

Woke up this morning, and to what my wondering eyes did appear? The New York Times (registration blah blah blah) reporting that Harry will be starring in an upcoming revival of ‘The Pajama Game’ coming later this fall. I’m already dancing around in circles in my mind. (The couch is way too comfortable to actually leave.)

I’ve never seen a show on Broadway before. Can’t wait to start the right way, with Harry. So for those whole like to shop really early, my Christmas list will consist of requests for cash for at least one trip to the Great White Way.

Speaking of white. I decided to opt-out of skiing with deez Steeles today. While I’m sure it would be good times and if I learned to ski, Jeff might let me ski with him some place cool someday, I’m trying to be more financially responsible and I also haven’t been home for a weekend in over a month, and I need to do exciting things like grocery shop and laundry and clean out my bookshelves (I’ve run out of room.)

2 months 2 days…

until my next concert.

Last night was wonderful, as per usual. I finished my review of South Bend on the way to the show last night.

Today, I’m pretty much just wiped. I took some cold medication two nights ago because I was feeling a bit sickly and just wanted to get some good sleep, but instead it kept me awake most of the night. Not what I wanted. I got to bed about 2am last night, so I’ve had about 5 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. I’m glad I have nothing to do tomorrow.

Pathetic post, but its all I can muster at the moment.

There is always one more time

That’s the title of one of my favorite songs that Harry often performs in concert.

I may just hear it again tonight, I’m soon to be off to Normal, IL (one can only imagine the comments that will get) to see Harry and the band. Last time for a couple of months. Then I have to get back to my regularly scheduled life.

But for tonight, this girl is going to celebrate! I’m attending my 30th Harry performance! I know, ya’ll think I’m nuts. Maybe I am, but live music gives me general joy that can’t be matched.

I’ll be back tomorrow, I messed up my work schedule and am working a full day. That is going to suck. But at least I’ll be saving my vacation time for the next show.

Home Again

And I’ve been back from South Bend for about an hour. A really fun weekend with my mom, Barb, Lew, and Gabi, and Harry and my boys. South Bend is a great town. We stopped into the College Football Hall of Fame before we left town. It was right across the street from our hotel, which was really convenient. Also nice about our hotel? That the band was checking out when we were checking in. My inner groupie loves that kind of stuff. The show was amazing as always. I finished my insanely long review/tale of the Kansas City show today while we were driving back. I love my powerbook. There are also a few pictures from before the concert.

Time to unpack and get ready for the Survivor finale. Please don’t let Rupert or Jenna win.

On the road again

My mom and I are about to walk out the door to head for south bend.
I’m still finishing my stuff from the kansas city concert. Thank goodness for laptops. Type while she drives. I might actually audblog this time, but don’t hold your breath. Like anyone really cares that much. ;)

I love my life

The concert last night was amazing and crazy and fun. Got to talk to all my boys and Harry waved and spoke to me during the show. New arrangements were debuted and our seat were fabulous. Jewels was the best concert going best friend ever and Johnny G was in the house; it was crazy synergy of my life.

Gotta go to work now so I can save my vacation time for the next shows!
For now, I leave you with a few photos from yesterday.

Ah the general joy of the day before a Harry concert.
I try to be a productive member of society and it just never seems to happen.

Harry pre-concert press interviews all the time during a tour and he had a quote from one a few days ago that just sums up why I love going to see him live:

I just want them to feel better than they did when they walked in. If I can take them out of their lives just for a couple of hours and go on a fantastic ride with me that’s all I can ask– that they’re in a happier place than they were when they walked in.

I’m out of town afterwork tonight to head to Jewels’ and play Nick Burns with her Mac. There may be an audblog post or two, so stay tuned.

Cancelled

Harry was to be playing at the New Orleans Jazzfest this afternoon. A few people I know had gone down to NOLA for the fun. Well, the weather is sucking and the festival is canceled for today. That’s sad for all those music fans. I flipped on to wwoz.org to hear what they were saying. The first thing that I heard was this poor sad DJ saying:

“I’m saying this for the 5TH TIME. Jazzfest is CANCELED for today. You don’t have to call us. Its cancelled. Now, we’re going to play some music and we’re not going to answer the phone.”

It just made me laugh.

12.13.2003: 1st Indy Show

Comments Off

I know its been forever, but I finished this one, so here it is…

Saturday, December 13, 2003 - Indianapolis, IN

Pre-show
4:30a.m.
That is when I woke up in general anticipation for my little tour to get underway. It is about a 6 hour drive to Indy and the show wasn't until 8pm. Needless to say, I didn't need to be awake at this hour of the morning, but I was. My mom had come over to my apartment the night before so we could just leave straight from my place. There had been some bad weather predicted, so we decided to just go ahead and get on the road. We got ourselves together, loaded up the car, fed my cat, ran by Wal-Mart for a few last-minute items and by 7:30am, we were off! We drove and drove and drove some more. Interstates in December can be so bleak and kind of depressing. We made it to Indy and to our hotel by 1:45pm, even with that time zone crossing we were crazy early. Hotel check-in wasn't until 4pm and I was so eager to find out where my seats were for the shows, so we headed over to the venue, which was only about a mile from our hotel.
